Well I would certainly agree Dems get too caught up in fringe issues.

But let's talk about the Republicans. Because I am an equal opportunity basher.

Demographics-wise, white and Christian, they might appear more homogenous. But when it comes to ideologically, there is close to open warfare in the land of the Right.

Bush Doctrine neoconservatives are furious at Trump, because he furthered none of their agenda (look at John Bolton - he speaks not just for himself). Even anti-immigration Republicans were untrusting of Trump, finger on trigger ready to call him "Amnesty Don" should he ever go back on his campaign promises. Libertarian Republicans don't know what to make of Trump and the GOP today: they are fighting for relevance through people like Rand Paul and Neil Gorsuch. But no other GOP group trusts, or even remotely likes, Libertarians. Christian Republicans have taken a "God works in strange ways," willing to overlook his many personal faults to accept that he is probably their most effective warrior in decades. Lastly, military Republicans despise Trump, for his complete lack of regard for law 'n order. Military Republicans echo the Left in many of their talking points.

There is actually no unity in the GOP beyond "We agree the Democrats are worse." And GOP fractures showed in small measure in 2020, but in huge measure in 2006-2008.

As for some of your talking points. Jan 6 is regarded as a reflection on QAnon, and not a reflection on the Republican Party. Trump's wrath is still feared by the entire GOP, although there are cracks - Trump did everything he could to get rid of Mitch McConnell, with no support or success. Youngkin successfully told Trump to stay the hell away. Election fraud, I agree with you 100% on this, it is a prolonged witch hunt rallying cry. Critical Race Theory is a losing argument for Democrats - you can say it doesn't exist but when things like 1619 Project spout flagrant lies and win Pulitzer, and hundreds of anecdotes come out of K-8 schools about white kids being humiliated for being white, that will activate suburban soccer mom's to vote far more Right. Anti-capitalism is another losing issue for the Left; an overwhelming majority in USA are staunchly against turning into the USSR.
