There were some real problems at Twitter.
Aside from all of the visionary founders leaving and being replaced by anonymous corporate suites, but there's more.
Between Twitter, YouTube, Medium, Facebook, and many other venues, the power existed to just shut somebody down without explanation or warning. Who had this power? Nobody knows. But it was exercised regularly.
And I'm not just talking about Donald Trump. Faccebook Facebook did absolutely nothing in 2016 to stem the flow of disinformation.
What I like about Elon's talk is how he wants to open up the algorithms, block bots, and make rules & process transparent. One side effect would be to reduce the # of tweets originating from Russia. All of this is not only good, it is liberal to its core and consistent with the entire tech revolution of the 90s-2000's.
How he walks it, we shall see.
