The #1 issue that united conservatives around Donald Trump was the border. Nobody else gave serious talk to stemming the tide of illegal immigration, flowing into this country from Mexico.

In 2016, it was fairly exaggerated, with fake videos being posted (some of refugees fleeing war zone conflicts in Europe).

However, since Biden has taken office, the reality has lived up to the myth. What is the estimate, 15,000 illegals enter the US per day? That is nearly 5.5 million people entering the US illegally every year. This is not sustainable.

Other issues that attracted voters to Trump was his effective pro-life support; evangelicals wanted to overturn Roe v Wade, and they viewed Trump as the best possible tool to achieve that.

Trump seemed more likely to protect the 2nd Amendment; he had the reputation of being a successful businessman; and the most convincing argument of all, he was not Hillary Clinton. Many Trump voters felt that Hillary Clinton was just evil.

All this was 2016.
