Thank you for your response... I do remember that George W Bush used a lot of fear tactics in his 2004 reelection campaign. Whether it was justified, as we were in the middle of a war on terror, is debatable. But Obama's message in 2008 was Hope, and that won out over (largely Palin's) Fear message.
