So...what you're saying is that people are NOT an effective check on government. And that is a problem.

ps - I would say that certain people being in office for 40+ years, such as Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Grassley, are a big part of the problem.

pps - Libertarianism actually has very limited influence on the Republican Party. Social Conservatives, Neoconservatives, and Trump Conservatives, all despise Libertarians and have much more influence imo.
