It goes both ways--there is an expectation for performance of masculinity for men. From having to "look" financially successful, to holding status & respect, to guys who are actually trying to be decent, only to be told "I think we should just be friends," as his woman of interest rides off with some jerk. It really is not easy to be a single guy, but you are right the physical appearance pressures are not as great.

Coming from a man who was single for a long time, the attraction game is exhausting for both sides.

But what is more interesting to me is when a relationship starts. I have been told by countless women that what they really want is their "rock" to depend on and melt into. And countless men have told me what they really want is a woman who supports their ambitions. Is this gender stereotype?
