I'm not AGAINST buying a house, but I dislike all of the fees (closing costs + commission) that come with any real estate transaction, and I've lived through one very major real estate crash (2006-2009). We may be on the cusp of another.

Also, there's that freedom thing. I've had friends who've found themselves in mortgage houses next to horrible neighbors, and options are limited at that point.
