I know that "USA is not a Democracy, it is a Republic" is a common talking point on the right, but re: the Senate you are absolutely correct. The Senate was designed to provide equal representation to all states, so that big states couldn't bully small states around.

It actually is the greatest "equality" measure baked into the Constitution; Amazon (California or Texas) has no more influence than Joe Unionmember (Alaska or Delaware).

Larger states are still given greater weight for the House, and Presidential Electoral Votes.
