I can almost agree with this.
True sociopaths are always drawn to positions of power, and there is no position more powerful than head of a big state. We can disagree on whether corporations own government or governments own corporations - yes lobbyists own Congress, but look at how China throws Walmart and Alibaba around like rag dolls.
But my question is how. How to set up direct democracy? The closest I have ever seen or read about this working, aside small tribes, is cryptocoin governance votes. And even that will soon get polluted by Blackrock and other mega-investors, because each coin gets one vote note each coinholder, which will result in hostile takeovers.
Maybe a "coin" for every citizen, and using governance token technology to hold voting. But there are still a million questions that will require centralized authority to decide and enforce:
- What if a quorum is not reached?
- Who will publicize and maintain the voting notifications/systems?
- Who will decide which issues come up for a vote?
- Who will hold citizens accountable (say for murder), and who will have authority to enforce punishment?
- What if somebody doesn't WANT to do said task, for which they are best qualified?
- How do you enforce that "competent administration" stays both competent and uncorrupted?
- How do you prevent elections from being manipulated by charismastic sociopaths?
