Ethereum's long-term success as pole position leader is not guaranteed. There are a number of things that could go wrong with the transition to PoS. They were considering moves that would accelerate the process, but weaken security. Any major disaster, would reflect much worse on Ether than it has on Solana or Terra.

I'm not anti-Eth, and in fact have a large position in Eth. But to say a 5 figure price is guaranteed, is a little like people saying $100k bitcoin in 2021 was guaranteed.
